Seth Godin’s Alternative MBA

Seth Godin doesn’t need me to plug his program. But I’m doing it anyway.

Very few people can mobilize others the way he can, and now, Seth Godin is looking for a few people to apprentice with him for 6 months beginning January 2009. You don’t get paid and you have to find a place to live in NYC. But, what a wild experience that would be.

I have no doubts that those who do this will see their professional lives dramatically altered.

  1. That’s a pretty incredible opportunity. I somewhat disagree with him that an MBA education isn’t important or valuable, but I do agree that it is not financially feasible for most people.

I’m sure he’s going to have some amazing applicants. The kind of person who can drop everything and go do that is the same kind of person who is going to do big things in this world. Somewhere, some part of me deep inside me wants to apply for this, but I just know it’s not feasible at this stage in my life.

I wonder if there is anyone similar in stature in Vancouver.

  2. I agree with you that an MBA has its place and is a valuable accreditation. I also believe the connections are important. But this certainly would be a great opportunity. I feel like Vancouver is really behind with respect to social media marketing, social media use in corporate world and social media positions in the workforce. I believe even the agencies here are playing catch up a bit.
