I have grappled with the same questions. I think that's part of the reason why I was alternately thrilled/terrified to do the Vancouver Mom event. Finally people who understand the bizarre nature of living your life out there, for almost everyone to see! I think this idea is interesting and I think its got some merit (internet mavens as narcissists) but, doesn't the same sort of thing apply about those at parties who waltz up to others and start conversations? And we don't automatically consider that a bizarrely egotistically behavior. Indeed it takes confidence but it can be done for the sake of pulling in other people and providing a place where others can put in their two cents. Heh.
