I have also played in band all my life, first in high school, then in university, then the Air Cadet band in Montreal, and now the Vancouver Concert Band (www.vancouverconcertband.ca). I play the flute. And yes, I went to band camp (at least the memory of American Pie is starting to fade from peoples' minds). I've heard lots of jokes about flute players (basically, they all have something to do with how we're all prima donnas - as if!) and I especially like this one: Q: What is perfect pitch on a flute? A: When it misses the rim of the toilet as you throw it in. I loved this post.
